For several years, Yuval Pick has been developing a method called Practice, which nourishes his dance and choreographic work and has become the daily training routine of the dancers in his company.
Practice enhances the dancers’ virtuosity through precise, structured exercises and improvisations guided by playful and organic imagery. This method also invites an acute awareness of presence in space, where every gesture — no matter how simple — becomes an authentic expression of the self in the moment.
The five fundamental principles of Practice aim to expand the dancers’ physical and creative potential:
— Rotation of the body
— Weight transfer and rebound
— Movement from the center to the periphery
— The “in-between space” as a playground
— Every movement as an action motivated by intention
The Practice method invites dancers to awaken their bodies and creativity through the pleasure of dancing. This approach encourages everyone to rediscover and cultivate a freer relationship with space and with others.
