Through this class for pre-professional dancers, the dancer and choreographer Anne-Mareike Hess offers participants an introduction to her artistic work and her approach to working with the body.

Starting from the principle that the body reflects our society, participants will explore the connection between movement, sensation, and emotion.
The class is structured as an extended physical journey, devoted to warming up the entire body, finding skeletal support, and placing particular emphasis on opening the senses and developing the ability to perceive all the information constantly flowing into our bodies through them.

Inspired by somatic practices, anatomy, and presence work, improvisation and imagination are used to set the whole body—including the face—into motion.

Anne-Mareike is also the choreographer of the new creation for the junior company, which will be presented during the opening night of the AWA Platform on February 21.
