In this new 55+ MOVERS, Anne-Mareike Hess invites participants of all ages and backgrounds to explore her artistic work and approach to the body. Starting from the idea that the body reflects our society, we will gently investigate the connection between movement, sensation, and emotion.
The workshop unfolds as a long, guided physical journey. Step by step, we will warm up the body, find skeletal support, and focus on opening the senses to become more receptive to the information constantly flowing through us. Inspired by somatic practices, anatomy, and presence work, we will use improvisation and imagination to bring the whole body — including the face — into motion.
The pace is adaptable, allowing each participant to engage according to their own energy and curiosity.
Anne-Mareike Hess
Dancer and choreographer Anne-Mareike Hess has a keen eye for analysing the body with great precision. Her interest lies in the “construction” of identities and their effects on the body. Educated at the HfMDK in Frankfurt/Main and HZT in Berlin, she has worked since 2007 with choreographers such as William Forsythe, Ingri Fiksdal, Rosalind Goldberg, Antje Velsinger and Nicole Seiler. Since 2012, her choreographic work, notably WARRIOR, has gained international acclaim, featured in festivals like Aerowaves Twenty20, New Baltic Dance Festival (LT) or SIDance (KR). She works in close collaboration with TROIS C-L (LU), Neimënster (LU) and Dock11 Berlin (DE) and is an associate artist at Weld (SE). Recipient of the Emerging Artist Award (2012) and the “Danzpraïs” (2015) of the Ministry of Culture of Luxembourg.
