Baptiste Hilbert and Pedro Barbosa invite you to explore how to combine movement and image in this special Video Dance workshop!
Video dance blends dance and video to create a visual, narrative, or abstract experience. It allows artists to play with space and time, create visual effects, use unusual camera angles, slow motion, acceleration, and other techniques that enrich the dance experience. This workshop will be led by Baptiste Hilbert from the AWA company and Pedro Barbosa, both experienced and skilled in this format, especially through their piece SHOOT THE CAMERAMAN.
The workshop is divided into three parts :
First, participants will discover the equipment used in the creation of SHOOT THE CAMERAMAN and take part in a physical warm-up.
The second part focuses on analyzing the relationship between video and movement: exploring how the choreography of the camera operator interacts with that of the dancer, and how this connection enhances the impact of the movement.
Finally, the third part is hands-on: participants will work in small groups to experiment with the tools and create a short filmed sequence blending movement and video! Everyone will have the opportunity to be both in front of and behind the camera!
The collective work will be screened on September 13, 2025, during the HORS CIRCUITS | Night of Video Dance event!
