For the 2023-2024 school year, TROIS C-L has initiated the brand new YOUNG MOVERS workshop program in collaboration with LUCODA and KnowEdge.

YOUNG MOVERS is an all-level workshop format aimed at 15-35 year-olds, designed to introduce everyone to the richness and diversity of choreographic art by breaking down the boundaries between dance styles.

Conceived as a space for encounter and integration, participants from all backgrounds discover and practice classical, contemporary and urban dance styles, accompanied by experienced choreographers and live musicians.

How does a workshop work?

A workshop consists of 3 phases:
Warm up: This collective warm-up consists of gentle movements, muscle strengthening and stretching. It helps to awaken the body and prepare it gently.
Tools & Techniques: The second part of the workshop covers the basics of the different movements specific to each style of classical, contemporary and urban dance.
Creativity: Creation and improvisation allow teachers and students to explore, develop and have fun with the different dance movements seen previously in a free and/or guided way.

The YOUNG MOVERS programme aims to offer creative workshops where everyone participates in every part of the session. The workshops invite the facilitators to participate in the different parts of the workshop with the participants, even if it is not their speciality. The idea is to break down the distance between ‘teacher’ and ‘students’ to create a space for exchange, learning and above all sharing, where all differences are an enrichment for everyone and where everyone feels legitimate and welcome.

Who are the dance instructors ?

►Classical dance

Ioanna Anousaki: Ioanna, aka Jovi, focuses on the alignment and coordination of the spine that classical dance can bring. As well as introducing technical terms from ballet, her teaching explores rhythm in movement and musicality.
Vita Stasolla: Her style of dancing and teaching focuses mainly on modern “Release” dance technique, ballet technique, gesture and expressive movement. Vita places great importance on anatomy and biomechanics to enrich her dance proposals.

►Contemporary dance

Sergio Mel: In his dance, Sergio explores the relationship with external space through a blend of intensity and fluidity, expression and emotion. Stimulated by many forms of performing arts and by his multicultural and multidisciplinary experience, he offers a learning experience that keeps contemporary dance as the basis of its transmission.
Baptiste Hilbert: Greatly influenced by breakdance, Baptiste has developed a particular interest in floor work in his contemporary dance practice. His artistic influences have led him to share a dance that is physical, expressive and narrative, which he transmits through numerous directed improvisation exercises.

Urban dance

– Alicia Cano: Alicia has developed her choreographic and teaching universe using Hip Hop and Popping as her main movement styles. Born between the 60’s and 70’s, popping is characterised by sudden muscular contractions to the rhythm of the music, giving the dancer a wide range of expression.
Rémi Yin: Rémi practices house dance, a hybrid style rich in the fluid, fast movements typical of the house music and club culture of New York in the 80s. He incorporates other forms of dance into his practice, such as capoeira, tap and Afro dance, to show that everyone can add their own touch to house dance.
Benoît Callens: For Benoît, dance is a means of expression and play. He practices bboying or breakdancing, which gives him the opportunity to explore different ways of playing with the floor and gravity. He also practices popping, a mixture of fluid and robotic movements that allows him to explore stimulating optical illusions.

Who are the musicians ?

Amit: Amit is an experienced musician specialising in percussion of all kinds. His many participations in drumming circles in Africa, India and Asia make him a multi-influenced musician who knows how to improvise for all styles of dance and with many instruments.
Fred: Fred is a multi-instrumentalist, but the saxophone remains his instrument of choice. His atypical style and his love for musical experimentation have led him to perform on many international stages (PetroJazz Festival, Saulkrasti Jazz…) and to play for many well-known artists.
Charel: Charel is a musician from Luxembourg who has already played in several bands with different styles. His main instrument is the drums, which he uses regularly in concerts or to accompany various dance workshops. His experience has made him a musician who knows how to adapt perfectly.
Willian: Originally from Brazil, the piano has been his favourite instrument since the age of 9. He has a university degree in classical piano, a master’s degree in composition and a doctorate in cognitive musicology. He has developed his own compositions and played in a number of jazz and Brazilian music groups.
