ATLAS da BOCA explores two trans bodies through the organ of the mouth. As a symbol, the mouth becomes the interface between the public and the private, between the erotic and the political, between silence and enduring speech. Questioning the “words” that are transmitted through gestures, this piece focuses on the moments when the mouth hardens, letting the words roar out.
“I spent my childhood and part of my adolescence very quiet. I spent countless days reading people and, above all, their ‘non-words’. A word gesture, a word look, a word breath contain so much truth and secrecy that I spend my life trying to read the paths that thought inscribes in the body. I believe the show begins here. – Gaya de Medeiros
