Loïc Faquet‘s choreographic solo ALEZAN addresses the construction of a woman’s identity in the face of moral pressure and the complexity of arbitrarily choosing one’s destiny. While embodying a feminist dimension, the performance illustrates a human being in the midst of a dilemma over her social evolution in relation to the ideals of a society. Can we free ourselves from the social markers that surround our upbringing and environment, without fear or regret? Can we distinguish our own desires from those imposed on us?
“Do I belong to my body or does my body belong to me?”
Brian Ca experiments with this body of which he is both possessor and possessed. Through the prism of contradiction, he explores potential impacts, dynamic momentums, and questions being aware of one’s own bodily gravity and the consequences this reflection engenders. In a small, non-dedicated space, in direct proximity to the public, he invites viewers to feel rather than see.
Stimulating the cognitive and sensory empathy that binds us together, what do our sensations provoke in others? This exploration? Is it possible to be fully aware of one’s body? And what sensations arise from this awareness? How do we experience them? Through an accumulation of bodily memories, their traces, memories, echoes and transformations, INFRA takes the form of a series of raw, instantaneous attempts to evoke the emotion of sensations.
