ROUGE EST UNE COULEUR FROIDE, Sarah Baltzinger’s new creation, is a protean artistic object inviting choreographic creation, musical performance and the visual arts to the stage. This new transdisciplinary object takes the form of a quartet of dancers accompanied by a musician on stage, all created in a singular relationship of dialogue with the audience. Conceived as an allegory of the living, this creation is a study of the figure of the double, questioning what appears of us under the impulse of the color red.
Drawing their inspiration from folklore, the LGBTQ movement and party, the artists explore and experiment with various attempts at metamorphosis, bestiality, monstrosity and deformation. Bodies play with mechanics and gestures that bear witness to a certain strangeness, questioning the different fragments that make us up, the constant shifts between the intimate and the social, the difficulty of organizing ourselves with who we are, the impediment and turmoil in our individualities.
Invoking the distortion of reality, ROUGE EST UNE COULEUR FROIDE questions the norm, the process of identity transition and the ambivalence that exists in each of us.
