Catarina Barbosa and company AWA present a prelude to their new creation Mary’s Daughters. In a world where the bonds between individuals are often overshadowed by the frenzy of everyday life, the creation of a choreography emerges as a sanctuary where kindness, sisterhood and connection intertwine to form a space of safety and shared pleasure. At the heart of this artistic exploration, three women come together to bring to life a narrative that transcends the boundaries of the sole individual to celebrate unity and collective power.
52HZ, conceived as a laboratory for sound and choreographic exploration, brings together composer Gilles Sornette and choreographer Jennifer Gohier to explore sound-generating movement. Using a range of analogue and digital processes, they focus their research on the way in which a sequence of movements can influence sound, composition and musical performance and/or how a composer’s desire to create a piece of music can tangibly shape the creation of a choreographic score.
Golden Ratio is a choreographic piece that unfolds under the pure aegis of the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio. It is a delicate piece that feeds on our environment and our perpetual adaptation in response to the acceleration and exponential demand for production in our societies, which creates complex, off-the-ground cultural motricities. It is a piece of observation that touches all communities, drawing a bridge between music and dance, between the anthropocene and the natural. It’s an invitation to listen and to transcend in a quest for connection.
